The Shark CityCruiser is the latest Shark open-face helmet with a focus on both style and safety. This new Shark helmet with its unorthodox design is meant to cover more of your head and chin, while still retaining a jet helmet styling. The thermoplastic helmet includes a renewed and environmentally conscious Shark AEGIS-labeled Microtech liner, since it is made out of recycled fibers.
The Shark City Cruiser will also be competing with the Schuberth M1 Pro, Arai SZ-R VAS, and the Shoei J-Cruise 2.
Material
The Shark City Cruiser is made of thermoplastic resin and it will be coming in 2 outer shell sizes covering XS to XL. Shell sizes are an important feature here since the more shell sizes you have on a helmet, the better the fit and the look will be. 2 shell sizes is generally how many sizes most Shark helmets are offered in.
Ventilation
For the ventilation, the Shark Citycruiser is offers the same basic configuration as we saw on Shark’s other jet helmet, the Shark Nano. So, there is a large adjustable scoop on the top of the helmet as well as space for air to get in from the bottom of the visor. There are even small vents in the visor itself in the sides and even on the bottom as well. This helmet also features to hidden vents on the sides to act as exhausts in letting that hot air out.
Visor
The visor of the Shark CityCruise may have a very interesting shape but it is still Optical class 1 rated. So, you won’t get any distortion and it comes in several tints and colors. The Shark helmet also comes equipped with an integrated sun visor, operated with a silver slider on the side of the helmet. The main face shield is anti-fog treated and is also anti-scratch, just like the drop-down sunshade. The visor is also meant to be easier to replace, which is a great improvement on both the Nano and the Drak since you previously had to pry off the side panels.
Liner
The liner of the City Cruiser is removable, washable and anti-bacterial so that means it’ll help neutralize any odors from the helmet. What’s really nice about the interior is it’s made of recycled microtech fibers, so it’s good to see some social responsibility. The liner is also going to be prepared for both people who wear glasses and for the Shark Prime Bluetooth Communication System. Lastly, the helmet uses a micrometric chin strap closure.
Summary
The Shark CityCruiser is a decent jet helmet that’s already trying to undercut the competition in price and looks. Overall, it won’t quite match the Shoei J-Cruise II or the Arai SZR VAS, but it does cover all the basics.
