Flat Visor for Bell Bullitt

The Bell Bullitt DLX Full-Face Helmet is designed for riders looking to get their retro on and their vintage bikes out. Though retro helmets often put form above function, the Bullitt is offering riders a balance of both with excellent styling, ventilation, and field of view.

With a recommended retail price of about 500 Euros or 600 USD, the Bell Bullitt Deluxe Retro Helmet will be competing with the AGV X3000, Shoei Glamster, Bell Eliminator, and the Arai Concept-X.

Material

The Bell Bullitt Deluxe Motorcycle Helmet is constructed out of Bell’s high-quality fiberglass composite outer shell for a lightweight and strength. The helmet is also offered in a carbon fiber shell construction for lighter weight as the Bell Bullitt Carbon. Regardless of the material used, both helmets come in 3 outer shell sizes each with their own multi-density EPS liner. The shell sizes span XS to XXL with one outer shell size for every two sizes.

It is also coming in at a lightweight of about 1420 grams in a size M, or 3 lbs and 2 oz, which is also decent for the retro category.

Lastly, the Bell helmet is ECE 22.05 certified and it has earned 3/5 stars from SHARP. Lastly, the Bell helmet comes with a round to intermediate oval head shape.

Ventilation

For ventilation, the Bell Bulit DLX Helmet will be coming with the retro offering of a single mesh-covered air inlet in the chin that can be adjusted with a slide on the inside of the chin bar, and there are four air intakes along the forehead. These intakes are covered with metal mesh as well to make sure nothing accidentally gets sucked in. You then get an exhaust out the back of the helmet under a small spoiler.

Visor

The visor of the Bell Bullet DLX Riding Helmet is coming with that classic large round shape with some versions of the helmet even being offered with a bubble shield. One pro of this large and flat visor is that you will get an excellent field of view, and it has been anti-fog treated as well.

For fastening, you are getting something little less retro with a Magnefusion closure system that allows you to close the visor securely and easily with a magnetic strap.

Though you need a screwdriver to remove the visor, Bell have kept things simple since you just unscrew the two screws holding the visor on and remove the hinge plate.

Liner

Inside of the Bell Bullitt DLX Helmet, you’re getting a full genuine leather interior for that premium retro look and feel, and it is entirely removable, washable, and anti-bacterial. The cheek pads are contoured for comfort and the helmet also uses a padded leather double D-ring closure system.

The interior EPS features a set of grooves running from the 4 inlets out to the exhaust, and the helmet does include integrated speaker pockets, which is a nice feature since, except for the Arai Concept-X, this feature is often missing in retro helmets.

Summary

As a retro helmet, the Bell Bullitt DLX does bring a decent balance of features even with its retro design. Not only are you getting some budget friendly extras in the box, but a premium interior, and speaker pockets.
